There has been a few personnel changes at Chimera Golf Club. Rest assured that the changes that have taken place were either planned, or at least anticipated.

We are pleased to welcome Jonathan Spatz as our new Director of Golf. Jon will officially be joining us April 1st. Jon comes to Chimera with a great deal of experience and has been a member of the PGA since 1993. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate that Jon accepted our offer to join our team. Jon will be bringing a Golf Academy to Chimera and we will be looking to invest in the latest technology to provide instant and actionable feedback on club delivery, launch, ball flight and landing. Club fitting services and professional lessons will also be available.

Reporting directly to Chris Sheehan, Jon will have responsibility for the Golf/Pro Shop, and all Outside Services. Jon will work directly with the maintenance team making Chimera the premier golf course in the Las Vegas Valley. We are fortunate to have the team from Turf Tech who are responsible for keeping our golf course in its immaculate condition.

Brooke Miller who most of you have known for many years has graciously accepted the position as Director of Food and Beverage. There is no one that knows this golf course like Brooke. Brooke brings a clear understanding of what works, and what doesn’t. Over the next few months, she will be working very closely with Executive Chef Ivan De La O to make a few changes that I know everyone will be very pleased to see. We will be doing a total revamp of the bar to give it a new look and will be adding 7 more tap beers to our offering and updating the older equipment behind the bar. Staffing changes will be taking place to ensure top quality table service with dedicated bartenders and servers. We have added delivery and pick up services and have a complete web ordering platform that is available at www.slice19.com Dane Burke is heading up the pizza side of F&B reporting directly to Executive Chef Ivan and working with Brooke on a day to day operations.

We have been making the transition to move the golf carts from the cart barn to the lower level of the clubhouse. This project is coming very close to completion. Ryan Burke will be returning to take the role of Outside Service Manager ensuring that all of our customers receive a first class service experience from the time they arrive until the time they depart.

Once the cart barn is empty and the carts have been moved, The Pavilion at Chimera Golf Club will begin taking over the old space. With this addition, Lindsay Kilburn has joined the team as the Director of Events. Lindsay has been coordinating and executing events in Las Vegas since 2004. Lindsay’s attention to detail has proven to be the key to her success and comes to us with amazing references. First order of business for Lindsay will be the conversion of the cart barn to the Pavilion as well as working directly with both Executive Chef Ivan and Director of Food and Beverage, Brooke Miller. It is very important to us that we don’t shut down the restaurant to hold events in the future. It is simply not fair to our dedicated customers to show up for dinner and find that we are closed for an event.

Executive Chef Ivan will be working on expanding our catering capabilities. Ivan is very excited about the addition of a wood smoker which will have the ability to smoke pork, ribs, chickens and everything else imaginable for events, meetings, catering and table service. He tells me his beef brisket is to die for! He has yet to let us down.

A special thank you to Tyler Rucarean for keeping us all up-to-date on social media and working to make sure that our customers all have a great experience at Chimera.

Last but not least, Chris Sheehan. Chris has done an amazing job and is rarely seen as he is sequestered in the back office making sure that the operation is running smoothly from various aspects. Chris was recently married in January and they received great news last week that their home in Chicago just sold. I know that Chris is looking forward to pulling his family back together and making up for some lost time.

What about the GPS? The GPS firm that we hired to provide the units for our current cart fleet recently declared bankruptcy. While we will not be able to replace the GPS units for this season, we have meetings set up with Club Car, EZ Go, and Yamaha to discuss options as our lease is due to expire in January. With any luck, we might be able to get one of the potential contenders to entertain an early buyout of the lease. The new carts will have up-to-date GPS technology.

Purchasing Chimera has truly been a unique experience and one completely different than anything that I have done in the past. When it comes to business there are only a few basic principles that can guarantee success. The first being that the customer is always right, and the second being that without customers we truly have nothing.

A huge thank you to a great group of neighbors and locals that support our efforts and have had patience with us while we continue to grow. Every day is a new opportunity to learn something new, and another day to be thankful for everything that we have.
