Chipping in for Vets at Chimera Golf Club
HENDERSON, NEVADA, October 15, 2015: Henderson Nevada’s Chimera Golf Club announced it will be hosting the first “Chipping in for Vets” Golf Tournament on October 26th, 2015. Tom Burke, the owner of Chimera Golf Club, continues to sink deep roots into the Henderson community by partnering with The Henderson Chamber of Commerce Foundation to put on this fundraising tournament. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Veterans Treatment Court of Henderson and the HCC Foundation.
Henderson Judge Mark Stevens directs The Veterans Treatment Court. In 2009, the Nevada Legislature authorized the formation of this special court for veterans. Many have difficulties adjusting to life outside of the military and find themselves in legal trouble. Stevens, a military veteran, wanted to give back to other veterans. Participants in the program complete – as part of their sentence – a variety of programs such as; court ordered counseling, post-traumatic stress disorder counseling, mental health counseling, drug or alcohol addiction counseling or other treatments.
“From the very beginning, we decided that giving back to the community and outreach to our veterans were two of our core values,” stated Tom Burke. “We are so honored to host this brand new event for the Henderson Chamber of Commerce Foundation. We are happy to know it is benefiting our veteran community and are looking for ways to do more.”
The Inaugural Chipping in for Vets Golf Tournament is on October 26th – 8:30 am shotgun, with registration beginning at 7:30 am at Chimera Golf Club in the Tuscany Village community, 901 Olivia Pkwy, Henderson, NV 89011.
